Elections in the Region

General Election 2010

The South East region saw a historic Green breakthrough with our first ever MP being elected to Parliament in Westminster. Thanks to it's unfair electoral system, the UK was the last country in Europe to elect Greens to Parliament. Caroline Lucas took Brighton Pavilion with 31.3% of the votes, a 9.4% increase since the 2005 election. (More details)

Local Elections 2010

Greens elected councillors to several authorities who had never previously seen Green representation including Reading and Reigate & Banstead. (More details) Brighton & Hove Green Party also successfully defended a council seat in a by-election after Keith Taylor resigned as a councillor to take his place as the South East's new Green MEP.

European Elections 2009

The Green Party has retained its seat in the South East region with a substantially increased vote share, up from 7.8% in 2004 to 11.6% this year.

The results were counted by Local Authority area, and in both Brighton & Hove and Oxford the GP came top of the poll.
