The South-East RegionA Confederation of
South-East England Green Parties was originally created to contest the
1999 European Parliament Elections, the first to be held over this
geographical area - see map. In 1999 Dr. Caroline Lucas was elected as
the South East Region's and the UK's first Green MEP, and in 2004 she
was

May 2005 General Election ResultsThe Green Party stood in 31 of the 83 seats in the region. Our average vote share where we stood was 3.6%. We came 3rd in Brighton Pavilion and 4th in a further 20 seats. 3 deposits were retained, in the three Brighton and Hove seats. Click here for full details. Our best result by far, and also the best result nationally, was in Brighton Pavilion where we received 22% of the votes, two and a half times what we managed in 2001 and narrowly being beaten by the Tories into third place. |
